Ellen & Peter
Ellen & Peter got married last fall at the North Carolina Museum of Art. They'd traveled all the way from San Francisco where they live - bringing everything from Ellen's stunning Vera Wang gown to a whole truck-load of their favorite beer (Pliny the Elder from the Russian River Brewing Co.) - to throw a party that they described as an acknowledgment and celebration of their commitment, and a huge thank you to everyone who'd helped them to this point in their lives and their relationship. Despite the difficulty of long-distance planning, they'd pieced together a really personal, meaningful day, anchored by a ceremony against the dramatic backdrop of the museum's famous ring sculptures by Thomas Sayre, who is a friend of Ellen's dad. During the course of our pre-wedding correspondence, Ellen mentioned more than once how much she hoped the weather would cooperate for this one (rather large) detail... Alas, the stormy skies were unrelenting that day, but as we all know, these things happen. What was amazing was how Ellen and Peter took the whole thing completely in stride, as if it didn't matter at all. Following their lovely, hand-crafted ceremony, they hosted a gorgeous reception at the NCMA's chic, modern restaurant Iris, which managed to be equal parts elegant and killer fun. At the end of the night, guests gathered at Cafe Helios (owned by Ellen's dad) for snacks and beer and Krispy Kremes late into the night.
Happy first anniversary, Ellen & Peter!
