Session Albums in Action
I love my albums. Each and every time I wrap one up to deliver to a client, I get all tingly thinking about how the book I'm holding will be cherished by their family for... well, forever. Each one is unique, and a work of art unto itself: hand designed in collaboration with my clients, and produced with beautiful archival materials and exceptional craftsmanship, they present the stories of my clients' lives, not just a snapshot. As you might imagine, albums are particularly popular with my baby plan clients, who have a big story to tell that first year. Elsje & Chris had a series of three albums made to document little Claire's journey, and I called them up a few weeks ago to see whether I could make some photographs of their albums all together. They kindly obliged, and when I first arrived, I started making the photos I'd envisioned... I brought along a couple of sample albums as well, and set them all up to make some standard product shots:
Then, in walked the star of said albums, and I remembered how much I prefer photographing amazing, energetic 18 month-olds to books:Best of all, though, was getting to see Claire and Elsje looking through their albums together... Claire's now talking up a storm, and to watch her go through the pages, recognizing herself and her parents, giggling and naming everyone was amazing. Knowing that she'll continue to revisit these pages through her life - and possibly one day share even them with her own children - is an incredible feeling. This is why I make them, and it totally warmed my heart to see them being loved :D
