Silas | Chapel Hill Family Photographer

I'm packaging up Mandy and Mike's order today, and I have to say: I'm a little sad. I enjoyed every minute of working with this family - from the first phone conversation I had with Mandy when she called to find out about setting a session up, to editing and finalizing the beautiful, dreamy pictures we got at their session. This had to have been one of my favorites of 2011... despite the fact that poor little Silas ran headlong into a doorjamb about five minutes after I arrived! Nothing too forced or posed... just hanging out and doing what they love to do: spend time together. That Mike, Mandy & Silas live about 100 yards away from me... and next time I'm bringing my boys so we can get in on the fun, too! How could you not want to spend more time with this guy?

Life as Art | Raleigh Family Photographer

A couple of weeks ago, I showed you a sneak peek of my portrait session with three year-old Annalise. I mentioned then that the session was remarkable in that it really captured the essence of what it is to be three years old: inquisitive, enthusiastic, and not-to-be pinned down for more than two seconds at a time. As I worked through editing this session, it seemed that every picture told that same story - there were very few images of little Annalise standing still, much less looking directly at the camera. I suppose some might see that as a problem - not having a series of classic "portraits" - but I thought it was perfect: it will recall the sweet, busy-bee reality of three year-old Annalise well into the years where she sits much more than she runs.Raleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerRaleigh Family PhotographerA couple of times, I was able to catch a stolen glance, but then she was off and running again... Raleigh Family PhotographerI love so many images from this session, but this next one has to be one of my very very favorites... pure, gorgeous, dreamy, rainbow-winged childhood. LOVE!

These pictures make me smile ear to ear, and I hope they'll do the same for you for years to come!

Sneak Peek: Annalise | Raleigh Child Photographer

If anything was going to compete with the gorgeousness of Saturday morning, it was the sweet little three year-old I got to photograph in Raleigh. Seriously: GORgeous:Raleigh Child Photographer Annalise's parents have had professional portraits made for her every year around her birthday, and looking through this year's set, I know they'll be able to pick these out from the rest. Three is such an amazing, unique age, full of questions, discovery, excitement, and enthusiasm, and I love the images we got, most of all because they really encapsulated all of the above. I got a workout chasing this little one around, but had so much fun doing it! I just wish I'd had time to go have macaroni and cheese with her afterward like she asked me to :D

More coming soon, but here's a sweet family picture I'd love to see hanging up BIG on their walls:
