Friday Favorites: Light & Context

I took these images a couple of weeks ago, but came across them yesterday and thought I'd share the gorgeous late afternoon light. My neighbor is having some work done on her house, and one day, as I pulled into my driveway, I looked over to see one of the workers perfectly silhouetted against the setting sun streaming between her house and the one next to it. He probably thought I was a crazy person when I trotted over to ask if I could take his picture, but he laughingly obliged. Raleigh Portrait Photographer

I love two things about these images: one (am I being redundant?) is the light - photographers often describe chasing the light, since it is light that can make an otherwise hum-drum picture sing. The other is that I believe portraits are always made more interesting given some context, and I love the context in these... tools, extension cords, sawhorse, toolbelt, etc. This last one is my favorite... Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
