Rediscovering Home | Roanoke, VA Engagement Portraits
As promised (way back in the beginning of January in this post), here's a more complete collection from Hannah & Kyle's engagement session in Roanoke, Virginia, where they'll be getting married next Fall. Roanoke is a beautiful little town nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, and just happens to be where I grew up... so for our session, Hannah, Kyle & I criss-crossed the town visiting some of my old favorite spots and exploring new ones. You never know what you're in for weather-wise when you're shooting a session in late December, but what we ended up with was absolutely lovely... cozy and wintry and romantic. And then halfway through, I looked up at the mountain and saw that a huge cloud had formed at the top, so we jumped in the car and went on yet another detour to get these...
...and then back downtown for some shots around the Taubman Museum, which was built several years after I'd moved away. It's a large and distinctly modern building set in the midst of an otherwise traditional downtown, and it ruffled a lot of feathers when it was being built, but I have to say: I love it... if for no other reason than that it's a great place to make portraits.
Hannah & Kyle, I'm sad I don't get to see you again until October, but I'm really looking forward to your wedding... I have a feeling it's going to be extraordinary!
