The Front Room Grand Opening | Durham Event Photographer
This past Saturday, I photographed the grand opening celebration for the Front Room in Durham - a new event space by Rochelle Johnson and Nick Hawthorne-Johnson of the Cookery. The Cookery is a certified food production facility located in the historic Durham Food Co-op building, and even though it just opened last year, it would seem that Rochelle & Nick are not the type of people who like to sit around: no sooner had they finished that project than they moved on to the next - renovating the front room and turning it into a multi-use space perfect for weddings, rehearsal dinners, private parties, and just about any other kind of event.
And it. Looks. Amazing.
Stats on the front room (just in case you happen to have an event coming up):
-
2,500 sq. ft. space that accommodates up to 200 people
-
mezzanine and outdoor patio
- seating, tables and tableware for 125 people - all you need to rent are the linens!
-
access to The Cookery’s kitchen facility for caterers and bakers
-
a full bar with local NC beers on tap
-
state of the art audio/visual equipment
The party was a huge success... it was a perfect, sunny day, and there were over 2000 people in attendance enjoying food and beverages from Cookery members and some of Durham's best food trucks and live music by Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes. In addition, the event raised nearly $4000 for the Durham Crisis Response Center.
Perhaps my favorite part was that Frank Stasio of WUNC's the State of Things was there serving up his homemade sausages... you guys know I'm a total NPR dork, so meeting Frank was pretty spectacular :D
Want to see the space in action? They've already got their next open house event scheduled for October 6th... go!
