There's something about Elodie Farms that I just love. I've only shot two weddings there, but both have been for lovely couples with heartfelt ceremonies and great parties, and though I'm sure they would've been memorable regardless of where they were held, they're now inextricably tangled with the location in my head and heart. Alison & Jon weren't actually supposed to get married there at all - their venue in Pittsboro called and cancelled on them sometime in January - but I won't tell you I was disappointed when they took my recommendation, called Elodie, and were able to rebook for the same date. It felt like fate. The day before, though, it felt like the fates had changed when the greater Triangle area got enough rain to inspire ark plans (5.14 inches, to be precise: I looked it up). That Friday, as I looked out my window, I wondered whether I should've maybe recommended somewhere indoors instead, preferably on high ground and with storm shutters on all the windows. I couldn't even imagine how Alison & Jon must've been feeling.
But miracles do happen, and not only did the rain stop... the ground (mostly) dried around the farm, the sun came out, and the evening of the wedding was just what farm wedding dreams are made of.
Alison & Jon got ready in the old farmhouse that sits on the property. The upstairs rooms are so light and airy, and I love the yellow walls in the room where Alison got dressed. The dining room downstairs was a fun spot for their first look, too...
Alison was raised Jewish, and there were several Jewish traditions incorporated into the wedding, including the signing of the Ketubah. Theirs was particularly gorgeous: hand cut and painted by Galia Goodman in Durham (link at the bottom of the post).
A huge thanks to all the vendors who helped make the day what it was:
