Welcome, Gia | Newborn Session in Cary, NC

It blows my mind how newborns seem to know when you need them to be calm and quiet... and almost always choose that moment to be the opposite. It's definitely the exception to the rule that I photograph a newborn session that doesn't require a break or three to let the star of the show have a good cry. The thing is, that's not only normal... it's perfect. It's absolutely, 100% part of the life of (and with) a newborn... and I love documenting it. All the rocking and feeding and cuddling and cooing that go into calming a baby down are the first bricks in the foundation of our relationships with our children, and though it can be exasperating and exhausting at the time, in retrospect (and in photographs), it's easy to see the beauty in that universal rite of parenting passage. Katie & Matt were rockstars with Gia the morning I arrived at their house... she was having a hard time settling, but they were so patient, and we just let it run its course. In the meantime, we got these...Cary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family Photographer

I assured them that in order to also get the sweet, sleeping portraits, we'd just need a minute or two... and we finally got them! Just goes to show that patience pays off...Cary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerCary Family PhotographerI can't wait to see this sweet girl and her family at their six month session!
