A little while ago, I got an email from a woman named Elizabeth asking if I'd be willing to come to her home for a newborn shoot with her thirteen day-old triplets*. Answer: OMGYES! As you can imagine, the opportunity to shoot twins - much less triplets - doesn't come along too often, so I was thrilled! I was also pretty nervous: there's a lot of patience, skill, and luck involved in newborn photography... babies don't routinely want to sleep when or in the position you want them to, they require frequent feedings, diaper changes, outfit changes, etc., and they have a tendency to scream when you take their clothes off. And that's just ONE baby. Multiply that times three, and I had myself braced for an all-day session.
Turns out, my concern was baseless... I showed up the morning of our scheduled shoot to find three freshly bathed, soundly sleeping, gorgeous newborns waiting for me. Elizabeth and her husband, Dave, seemed so comfortable with the routine, it was hard to believe they had only been at this for a couple of weeks!
When the babies finally started to stir, big brother Lucas showed me around the house and the backyard... we were having such a fun time playing I had to keep reminding myself I had a job to do! Fortunately, this little guy wasn't exactly camera shy:
In the meantime, Elizabeth and Dave fed and changed the triplets for round two:
Elizabeth & Dave, I am in awe. You have a beautiful family, and make having triplets and a four year-old look like a piece of cake. I get the feeling that Lucas knows the real score, though :)
*For the record, if ever I have another baby - just one, mind you! - you can reasonably expect radio silence on my end for, say, three months. If I somehow had three at once, by the time I got around to contacting anyone, email would probably be obsolete and people would be messaging each other using their MINDS! This woman is my hero! Superwoman!!!
